Wonderful day!

Besides the fact that none of us feel good at all we had a most wonderful thing happen. I was sitting at the computer with the girls all around me, Sophia was sitting in my lap when I heard "mmmm..MAMA". I dismissed it at first thinking it was one of the girls just shouting out mama as the word mama flows in our home often. Until it clicked that I had never heard that particular voice say Mama before. I looked down at my little Sophia who was looking up at me with the cutest smile and realized my mini monkey said mama for the very first time. I was so happy, I picked her up, gave her a hug and she just started bouncing with excitement. Sure she said "Dada" first but Mama just makes my heart sing!

What a great day! :-)

Happy Birthday Miriam!

This weekend was hectic but turning 5 is a big deal so we pulled it together and tried to give Miriam the best possible turning 5 experience she could have.

Originally we had planned on a classic backyard BBQ with a bounce house and other fun outdoor games. But the Weather had different plans for us and we had to figure out a way to have the party with 40 people on the RSVP list inside the house. In order to do this we had to clean up the garage.

THIS WAS OUR GARAGE!

As you can very well see, cleaning up the garage filled with garage sale items, donation items, unpacked boxes (that unfortunately had been opened and rummaged through a million times) and hundreds of other random items was not going to be an easy task. Not only did we have to get this garage cleaned in order to have room for all those people but I had to get our messy kid lived house clean as well.

I started the garage on Thursday and Tom finished the Garage on Saturday probably about 10 minutes before the first family arrived. PHEW! It is so nice to have the Garage clean and our family gift from 2 Christmas's ago set back up again (pool table).

That Saturday morning I was up bright and early (5:00am) to get ready for my day. Because we were not able to use the BBQ and because I wanted to make this birthday special with a home made cake I had cooking to do. I managed to bake/ice decorate 36 cupcakes (chocolate covered strawberry , brownie bottom/strawberry cake on top), a sheet cake (brownie bottom, vanilla cake on top) and enough homemade macaroni and cheese & Spaghetti casserole to feed an army. With a little help from some friends we also managed to put on the table bread sticks & English muffin pizza's. There was PLENTY of food for all! (even though I forgot to serve the salad..ooops!)

Miriam's Rainbow cake! :-)

In the end, even though the preparation was exhausting Miriam was able to enjoy a WONDERFUL birthday with some amazing friends. We all ate (well not me..lol) , played games (pinata, a scavenger hunt & arts/crafts), had some cake, opened presents and just had a wonderful time. Thanks to everyone who came to share with us the experience of 5 years with our big girl! It is amazing how fast our children grow up. She might not be grown yet but if the years keep going this quickly she will be before we know it!

First thing Miriam discovered about her party was....FOOD!

It's Pinata time!

Enjoying the fruits of her labor!

Having some rough house time with Daddy, always fun...but scary for mommy!

Time for cake. As you can see by looking at her nose, she helped herself before the candle was ever lit! If you look in the final picture you can see how angry she got because she had to wait for cake like the rest of us..lol

And the result of the cake eating experience...

And finally Presents!

Sunday funday! (pic heavy..lol)

Normally on Sunday we would be sitting in church and enjoying our time worshiping Heavenly father with our church family but today we had a change of plans. Miriam has had a rash from an allergic reaction she has been having from dye. She woke up this morning and the rash was so bad it was bleeding. She was grumpy, loud and in pain so we decided church would not be a good place for Miriam today. Instead we gathered up a snack for the girls, Georgia's new Soccer ball we got from Ross for 4 bucks, our Scriptures and headed over to Old Settlers park in Round Rock. It was just such a beautiful day that we absolutely had to enjoy every second of it!

We took a nice stroll through the park, let the girls play a bit on the playground then sat down for their snacks. We found a cozy little shaded area just off the lake where we read scriptures and tried to teach Georgia how to play Soccer for the first time. We had such a wonderful family day!

And please ignore the fact that Tom and I are wearing the same clothes from date night. I spent my morning doing laundry and somehow we BOTH ended up choosing the same thing. Amazing how when you have been together as long as we have you start to share a brain.

Date night!

Once every few months my darling husband and I decide we have had it and need a break. We gather our extra funds and go out for a night on the town. Or about as "on the town" as you can get when you don't drink!

This time we decided to get acquainted with our local Sushi and went to an amazing restaurant in Round Rock called Origami. How it has taken us so long to visit this place which has been sitting in my favorites folder in my tool bar for 6 months is beyond me! The service was outstanding, we sat at the Sushi bar, which oddly enough I and my Sushi loving self has never done before. The Sushi Chef's were absolutely wonderful. They were friendly, smiling and made the prettiest plate of Sushi! It was quite tasty as well. The Unagi and spicy tuna was PERFECT. Some places give you Sushi that is way to cold, this was perfect room temperature by the time it was given to us. So GOOD! We will definitely be going back. We are not so sure when, but we will be going back!

After we ate we headed to Main event. If you don't know what that is , it is a super fun indoor fun center. We played Glow in the Dark Golf, Bowled a few games, shot some pool & played Laser Tag. It was an amazing time and we got it for a discount (labor day weekend special) which made it even better.

I truly wish we could afford nights like these more often. Most of our extra money goes into Miriam's bank account. But sometimes I think parents really need to think about their mental well being. Tonight was VERY VERY needed. Tom and I enjoyed every second of our time together. And I am so glad that after all of these years we still desperately enjoy each others company.
